do you know
if the flakes
of almond
still kiss
pearl-white
gourami
mouths, mouse
faces
without
their ears
or if the
pigeon still
flies thru
lemonrind
sky, singing:
“once i held
all the keys”
or if the
hurricanes
still fling
tamarind,
corn silk,
caraway,
stale oats
tasting of
roasted meat
(you nourish
my skin,
our cholest-
erol cloak)
but baby
do you see
the dying
purple pea
will you list
its limbs and
ligaments
before the
tender
sidewalk
gurgles snow
