Crônicas
by Rone Shavers
The Magnificent Field, forthcoming
Rone Shavers has been working through a form that might be unfamiliar to some Anglo-American readers but is very much a part of the literary landscape of Iberian and Latin American cultures. These pieces are not always humorous really often are in a more satirical way as the crônica is about observation. Shavers shares his sights and insights in his collection of
Crônicas soon to be released by The Magnificent Field.
Shavers blends the linguistic with the timely and the temporal. He works through a world as symbols ready to be interpreted or better yet, reinterpreted.

This chap is a series of openings, closings, and the cracks that allow for seepage and seeing. The book works with quotes and notions and the mundane in both metamodern ways that work through irony and sincerity. Oscillation is at play in this work which pretends also to be playful but is making the reader work as the writer himself has worked.
"The greatest mysteries are those right in front of you, so maybe we should begin at the beginning. The most logical thing would be to say that it started on a Wednesday…"
