The Sopranos
so I discover
men have
been hitting
higher octaves
since
stayin' alive
has become
the glove
on one
hand hiding
peeling skin
the opera
singer says
clicking
his tongue
at the throat
-clearing
contest
This poem artistically responds to the trend of poets “calling out” poets using targeted, deliberate and one-dimensional prose pieces, abandoning the ambiguity that’s ironically most characteristic of their form, thus undermining the complexity of the necessary inter-generational conversations being had.
Poets Resist is published by Glass Poetry Press.
