Skylight
— for Rocky & Noel
Our neighbor
Across the street
Works in the
Steel industry,
His wife’s a nurse,
And both work
Swing shifts.
On some dark
Winter mornings,
I can look out
Our semi-circular
Living room window
As I head down-
Stairs for coffee
And see their
Bathroom skylight
Glowing white.
Seeing their light
Always makes me
Feel a bit better—
Knowing that
We’re not
The only ones.
